The Heritage Society was delighted to present Mayor Thomas M. Menino of Boston, MA, five term mayor and an Advisor Emeritus to the National Trust for Historic Preservation as our featured speaker at this sold out event.

Mayor Menino ushered in the nation’s first citywide National Trust for Historic Preservation Main Streets program to support small businesses and spur local economic development. Mayor Menino will speak on how Boston’s support of historic preservation bolsters tourism and property values, and attracts the “creative class” that both our cities seek.

The Heritage Society annually presents the Preservation Awards to honor individuals and institutions for their visionary approach to preservation and commitment to maintaining Austin's architectural, cultural, and environmental heritage. By creating more recognition for outstanding preservation projects and preservationists, we in turn inspire others to carry on the important work of safeguarding Austin’s heritage.
